WPS HELPS THE FLOOD VICTIMS AGAIN!!
The worst floods in more than 100 years had left behind a trail of death and destruction in our state, Andhra Pradesh in the month of Oct 2009, rendering over two million people homeless. Hundreds of villages and thousands of acres of crops got washed away. What it took years and years to build was destroyed in a matter of few hours. The magnitude of the devastation was such that, only the government’s efforts were not sufficient for the relief works. Rehabilitating the people was a Herculean task and it was imperative that every citizen irrespective of region, religion and caste helped the flood victims. This is where millions of people stepped in to lend a helping hand and so did WARANGAL PUBLIC SCHOOL.
The Management, Staff and students of our school have a history of rising to the occasion whenever the need rose. The students of Class I to Class X responded and collected Rs 1,60,000 to help their fellow citizens. All the Staff members including the Director, Principal and Class IV employees magnanimously donated one day’s salary. The Management too very generously did its bit by contributing Rs. 90,116 and took the figure to Rs 2,50,116. It was decided to contribute the amount to the Chief Minister’s Flood Relief Fund. Thus, the entire amount in the form of a Demand Draft was handed over by the School Chairman Sri.P. Ganga Reddy, to the District Collector Sri. N. Sridhar at a specially arranged function in the school. Our Chairman also handed over a cheque of Rs 2,00,000 on behalf of his family’s firm The Madras Chakkar Beedi factory. The Collector, on this occasion, applauded the efforts and gesture of the Management, Staff and Students. He was deeply touched by the humanitarian attitude of one and all.
The function nevertheless reminded us about the earlier occasions, when WARANGAL PUBLIC SCHOOL responded in the same manner. In the years 1996 and 2001, when there was a cyclone in coastal Andhra Pradesh and earthquake in Gujarat, we collected a large amount of money and tried to help our brethren. This sort of programmes teach the children that one should always have a humane touch to his personality and make them realize that Service to Man is Service to God.
WELL DONE WARANGAL PUBLIC SCHOOL!!! KEEP IT UP!!!
